Last Friday, the national workday in defense of territories, water and life was held. The seventh national day organized by the “Movimiento Ríos Vivos” [Live Rivers Movement] that focuses on the relationship between tributaries and peacebuilding, “because if territories are seen as goods and rivers are dammed, it is not possible to talk about peace” as explained by Isabel Cristina Zuleta, spokeswoman for the organization.
The inhabitants of the San Martin municipality lived a hectic week as the fracking machinery violently moved in despite the numerous requests, denounces, protests and mobilizations by the community to stop the Conoco Phillips and CNE Oil & Gas companies from settling in.
Many recognize the economic, social and political factors that have generated and reproduced the armed confrontation in Colombia, that’s precisely the premise of the need to find a dialogued and political solution to the conflict. However, transversal to these factors is the environmental issue, which is of high importance because of its role in the economic and social life.

At the 5th consecutive day of the X National Guerrilla Conference, the FARC-EP discusses “Environment and Natural Resource preservation” a topic that has direct relation to the agrarian problems in Colombia and the economic model of the country, which is primarily based in the massive exploitation of natural resources.
Representatives of several Colombian environmental organizations presented in Havana a compendium of eleven proposals to ensure environmental issues are also taken into account in the context of the negotiations between the FARC and the government, as well as with the ELN.

"What happened in Tumaco are undesired consequences": FARC
The FARC-EP expressed concern today about the damage to the ecosystem in Colombia. Comandante Carlos Antonio Lozada stated:
REPORT FROM HAVANA, 24 September 2014
? Bilateral ceasefire is needed to prevent more unnecessary bloodshed

Havana, Cuba - The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, People's Army, read a statement today about the petitions of the National Agrarian Summit, presented to the government.
The participants of the Summit warned that if the government doesn't meet their demands, they'll enter in strike on March 28, 2014, that is, within one month.
Some of the peasants' petitions happen to be the pending points (called "salvedades" in Spanish) of the peace dialogues between the FARC-EP and the government in Havana. These are issues that are still to be discussed, but which have been put into a freezer, in order not to obstruct the development of the dialogues.
One of those important issues is the recognition of the Peasant Reserve Zones, as well as the review of economic policies, which should be based on sovereignty, planning and environmental sustainability.
After reading the statement, Marcole?n Calarc?, the spokesman in charge, opened space for questions.
The journalists asked for more information about the death of the two policemen in Meta, to which Calarc? responded:
"Not only two policemen have died in Colombia. There are a lot of deaths, and an essential part of the peace talks in Havana is to finish with this. When time has come, without hurry and in a reasonable way, the organization will pronounce about this particular event again".
