Several media outlets in Brazil and international news agencies have been profusely disseminating an alleged report that appeared in 2014 by the Prosecutor's Office of Manaus -capital of the Amazonas State- that tries to link the FARC-EP with mafia-related organizations linked to drug trafficking.

Based on this lie, they now claim to hold our guerrilla organization responsible for the appalling massacre of 56 people, which took place between the 1st and 2nd of January at the Anisio Jobim prison complex in the city of Manaus.

There must be great ignorance or great bad faith of the correspondent of the EFE News Agency in Manaus, who without contrasting sources dares to insinuate responsibility of the FARC-EP in events that we reject and condemn because they hurt the conscience of the civilized peoples of the world.

It should be remembered that since 2012, we have begun public dialogues with the Colombian Government in search of a political solution to the social and armed conflict that our country has been suffering for more than 60 years, which concluded positively with the signing of the Final Peace Agreement in November 2016. We now enter the implementation stage of the agreement.

It should be the authorities of the brotherly people of Brazil who investigate the causes of what happened, establish who the responsible and take the necessary measures to prevent a repetition of these unfortunate events. To the same people of Brazil, the relatives and friends of those who died in the massacre: our solidarity and voice of encouragement in demanding that the whole truth be known.
