The President of the Republic visited the camp zone being constructed and addressed members of the FARC-EP that are preparing to step into civilian life.
"The road ahead is still difficult, we still have many obstacles, many challenges to overcome, but we have reached this stage: this stage is irreversible. We must, in the future, do this work of building democracy, freedom, country, and we are going to do this together, all Colombians together. It does not matter whether we are on one side or the other. This is about respecting differences, leaving guns aside, leaving violence and continue building".
The President was accompanied in his tour by FARC-EP Ivan Márquez, member of the Secretariat, Jesus Santrich, of the Central High Command and Martin Corena, Comandante of the South Bloc.
The National Government delegation also included the First Lady, Maria Clemencia de Santos, her son Martín Santos, the Ministers of Finance, Interior, Labor, Transport, Culture, the High Commissioner for Peace, the High Councillor for Postconflict, the High Councillor for the Regions, the Director of Sena and the National Director of Libraries.
In the Carmelita Zone there are 438 guerrillas proceeding from Fronts 48, 49 and 32. The work to adapt the common areas (dining rooms, sanitary batteries, kitchens, classrooms and offices) is progressing at a good pace, as is the delivery of materials for the construction of the accommodation. It is expected that the area will be ready by mid-March.
With the arrival of the last men of the FARC-EP to the Zone of La Montañita in Caquetá, all redeployments were completed and thus begins the crucial stage of formal activation of the zones, reincorporation activities and continuation of the implementation of the agreements.
Today 's visit by the President of the Republic to the camp is a fundamental step in the construction of peace and a vital impulse for the transition of FARC-EP members into civilian life.
