Havana, Cuba - Spokesman Carlos Antonio Lozada announced significant progress has been made on the subject of a bilateral ceasefire and cessation of hostilities. He said that probably next week, there would be an official declaration on the subject.

When asked about the abandonment of arms, he told that the FARC-EP on the 15th of February put its proposal on this matter on the Table. "It should be clear", he stated, "that the abandonment of arms means to not allow weapons to be included in the political life of the country”, which implies a commitment not only by the FARC-EP, but also by the National Government, who should abandon the traditional doctrine and ideology managed by the State and its Military Forces.

He briefly referred to Simón Trinidad, prisoner in Florence, Colorado, in the United States, and other prisoners in the U.S., saying that the signing of a final peace accord should lead to a reunification of all Colombians

When asked if these agreements about location and abandonment of arms could also apply to the ELN, the other guerrilla force of the country which installed its own peace process only one week ago, he answered that what is being discussed here in Havana, is an agreement between the FARC-EP and the National Government.
