The law project seeks to establish more efficient and rapid mechanisms to constitute the Land Fund for the formalization of small and medium-sized property to accelerate existing procedures that lead to nourishing the land fund.
This is done with the objective of paying off the historical debt with the peasants of Colombia and the project is currently awaiting observation on part of the ethnic communities convened to participate.
The importance of this initiative is fundamental, since the Government in recent days presented another proposal that was classified by different sectors as "contrary to agreements" and in that sense, promoted inequality in the Colombian countryside.
Land in Colombia has been at the core of the political and economic composition of the country, a structural land reform has never occured in contrast to most Latin American countries. Without a doubt this aspect of the Peace Agreements is essential in the attempt to modernize and bring equiative development to the countryside.
