In the letter, the businessmen express their support to the peace process in Havana, which was described by the FARC as ?significant?.
The spokesman explained that for the insurgency, the main goal of this peace process, besides its humanitarian reasons, is to create minimal conditions in order to resolve the economic, political and social differences that divide Colombia. All this, through a civilized debate within a new, democratic scenario, which should provide participation for all those who have been traditionally marginalized in the country.
He also told the businessmen that the restorative justice is definitely the road to take in matters of justice for the victims and a means of defeating hatred and feelings of vengeance. According to the FARC, it is logical that some aspects of the agreements create concerns and social tension, but they affirm that none of the topics
?undermines the stability of the nation, all the contrary, they strengthen it to the extent that they create conditions so that Colombians will be able to resolve our differences in a democratic way?.
Finally, the spokesman expressed the FARC?s full disposition for an interchange of ideas about the present and future of the country with this sector of the country.
Responding to a question from the press about the six months deadline to come to an agreement, the spokesman replied that the countdown starts from the moment of the signing of the agreement on justice. At this moment, the discussion on the justice agreement is still going on at the request of the Government who, in spite of signing the agreement on the 23rd of September, considered there were still some details to be discussed.
