The Monitoring and Verification Mechanism is an organism composed of FARC-EP delegates, Colombian Government delegates and United Nations delegates with the objective of –as stated in its name- monitoring and verifying the ceasefire process and all activities related to it including the future reincorporation of the FARC-EP to civilian life.
Bearing in mind that the FARC-EP has recently ensured that the Government has failed to comply and that the grouping areas have not been conditioned, the amnesty law has not yet been processed, nor has the special jurisdiction for peace law being discussed;
The Tripartite Monitoring and Verification Mechanism of the Ceasefire and Bilateral and Definitive Hostilities is investigating the events that took place on November 15 in the municipality of Santa Rosa, south of the department of Bolívar, which resulted in death of two people from the FARC-EP. The situation of a third member of the FARC-EP, unharmed, is being investigated.
The Delegations of the FARC-EP and the Colombian government, after the narrow victory of the NO-stand at the referendum, have separately met with representatives of the Yes-camp and the No-camp.
Bogotá, November 4 – The tripartite Mechanism coordinated by the UN Mission, with the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP), will begin to monitor and verify the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities on Monday, 7 November.

The National Government, the FARC-EP and the Mission of the United Nations (UN) in Colombia, inform that the first training phase of the group of women and men who will be part of the tripartite mechanism for monitoring and verification of the Bilateral and Final Ceasefire and Cessation of Hostilities began today in the framework of the preparatory stage to the activation of this mechanism.

The delegations of the National Government and the FARC-EP inform that they fulfilled the second day of technical visits to the following places: Vereda Tierra Negra in Calamar, Guaviare; Los Encantos, La Paz, Cesar; Llanogrande, Dabeiba, Antioquia; Betania - Alto de La Paloma - municipality of Policarpa, Nariño; Las Marimbas, Cartagena del Chairá, Caquetá and La Cooperativa in Vistahermosa, Meta.
On Monday 8 of August very early in the morning, the members of the Monitoring and Verification Mechanisms from the FARC-EP, who had visited Havana, Cuba in order to receive instructions to start their job, headed for the Airport José Martí.
